Day 100/100 Challenge Complete!

Day 100/100!!!

This challenge was a great motivator for me and the accountability of posting (almost) daily was just what I needed to keep me focused.

I realized I Love mandalas and creating daily is therapeutic for me.

I’ll be starting a new challenge after Christmas and it will be 30 days of junk journaling.

I Love the IDEA of junk journaling and have more ephemera and tools than any person needs to create them. I’ve been collecting for years but for some reason haven’t been able to complete one.

This 30 day challenge is how I’ll finally decide whether it’s for me or not.

If it’s not I can start getting rid of my collections

Day 98/100 Mandala Shading

The goal is to complete this by day 100.

I can’t believe a hundred days is almost up!

The next big decision is what color/colors to use.

Day 91/100 Mandala in Progress

A few years ago I was drawing mandalas a lot and was enjoying it.

Then I stopped.

I don’t know why but that’s my M.O.

As I get better at something I get bored with it and move onto something else. Only to return to it later and have to go through the learning curve again.

I wonder if this is a common trait with creatives?

Day 84/100 Mandala Details

I like the way this is coming along!

And I’m a little nervous to add color to it.

I have a habit of wanting to use all the colors and it doesn’t always turn out the way I’d like.

But I’ll add a few more details then take a leap of faith and splash some color.

Fingers crossed!

Day 68/100 Torus Mandala

The second try at the Torus Mandala worked out much better. The tutorial from Deb Soromenho was great.

Better mandala

I used another compass – which ended up being the same make in a different color…with the same issue. I added a little tape around the pencil and it worked well enough.

Maybe time to declutter my mandala supplies!

Day 52/100 Wire Word Art and Dyed Papers

Mig wire word art.

Had an idea to make some hidden paperclips with wire words on them so that’s my next project.

The wire I used is welding wire; it’s very hard and holds its shape really well – it will break if you bend it too much though.

Coffee dyed papers

The coffee dyed papers didn’t need to go in the oven which was a nice surprise.

Some of the edges are really saturated with coffee, seem a little sticky and have a really strong coffee smell. There are some really pretty ones though.

Coffee and tea dyed papers

Hmmm, since I have some dyed papers I’ll have to assemble a junk journal!

Day 47/100 Watercolor with Crayola Felts

An extra day with family – thank you snow!

I started coloring the feathers with a student grade Steadtler watercolor pencil but they just weren’t blending so I went to an old faithful – Crayola felts.

I’m not really looking forward to cutting these out, I think I might use an blade to get into all the little nooks and crannies.
